Although Jefferson County is known for its rural and small-town character, the county's government is modern and efficient and strives to serve both residents and visitors. The government of Jefferson County employs roughly 300 people, both full and part-time. The annual budget is about $70 million, of which about $14 million comes from property taxes. The county seat is Dandridge, TN, and our historic courthouse, located at 202 W. Main St., in downtown Dandridge is one of the oldest in the state.
