The County Commission is the County Legislative Body for Jefferson County. It is composed of 21 members from 10 districts. Commissioners are elected by voters in their districts for four-year terms. Commissioners must represent substantially equal populations based on the latest federal census. Each district is represented by two members except for District 03 (White Pine) which has three members. County Commissioners must reside within and be a qualified voter of the district represented. Update Friday, March 20, 2020 Regarding Tuesday, March 24, 2020, County Commission Meeting:
Due to concerns regarding exposure to the COVID-19 virus the following steps are being implemented for the March 24, 2020, County Commission Meeting at 6:30.
Through Executive Order 16 signed by Governor Bill Lee. Tennessee Legislature has approved the capability for us to conduct business with a virtual meeting. This meeting is limited to County Commissioners and people with an item on the agenda. You will be to attend this meeting through You Tube.
We appreciate your understanding as we all work together through this challenging time. We are providing this so that citizens, employees and the press can still attend our meeting.

Charter Channel 192 has tape-delayed episodes of County Commission meetings. Meetings will be broadcast every weekday at 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. for two weeks following the meeting. After two weeks they will air on Wednesdays at 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. until they are replaced by a new meeting.
