Jefferson County Maintenance Garage Technician 1

Jefferson County is accepting applications for a full-time Level 1 Technician position within the County Fleet Maintenance Garage. Under the direction of the Director of Fleet Maintenance, this position performs maintenance and repairs on County vehicles and equipment.

Responsibilities include assisting with diagnostics and repairs, performing routine maintenance and inspections, oil and filter changes, tire repair and rotation, replacing filters, wipers, batteries and other parts, as well as shop clean-up, parts pick-up, vehicle transport and other duties as directed.

Qualifications include:

  • Valid Tennessee driver’s license and good driving record
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must have your own tools
  • Must successfully pass a drug test and background check
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including standing for extended periods and lifting, pushing or pulling up to 40 pounds

This position works in a vehicle and equipment maintenance garage and requires the ability to safely work around power tools, moving parts, electrical hazards, chemicals and other occupational hazards.
