We Are Hiring

Jefferson County, Tennessee, Veteran Service Officer Assistant. Full-time position with benefits.

 

Jefferson County is seeking a full-time Veteran Service Officer Assistant to support the County Veteran Service Officer and assist is representing county veterans within the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs system.

Applicants must be honorably discharged veterans. Preference will be given to disabled veterans with familiarity navigating VA systems and benefits.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Ablilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Proficiency in computer and communication skills, particularly within VA systems
  • Ability to obtain accreditation from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs
  • Demonstrated general knowledge of veteran pensions, compensation, presumptive conditions, the PACT Act, and other VA benefits at the time of hire
  • Completion of required VA training within twelve (12) months of employment and demonstration of detailed knowledge of veteran benefits thereafter
  • working knowledge of HIPAA, FOIA, and other applicable laws and regulations governing confidentiality and the release of personal information
