Emergency Management Agency (JCEMA)
Jefferson County Emergency Management Agency assists community efforts to mitigate, prepare for, respond to, and recover from emergencies and disasters whether natural or man-made. We developed and maintain the Jefferson County Basic Emergency Operations Plan to ensure a coordinated response and we are responsible for requesting additional resources from other county and state partners when necessary. JCEMA is also the reporting agency for damage assessments following natural disasters such as storms, flooding, and earthquakes.
Homeland Security
Jefferson County Emergency Management Agency is the primary point of contact for the District 2 Homeland Security and is responsible for requests and allocations of grant funds for emergency services response to an emergency event or attacks that may involve chemical, biological, nuclear, or explosive materials. We are also responsible for assisting in planning for such events and providing threat assessments.

Training and Education
Jefferson County EMS is an approved Training Center for the American Heart Association where we provide CPR, Heart Saver First Aid, BLS provider, ACLS, and PALS courses for both community and health care providers. We also have instructors certified to teach PHTLS, ITLS, Stop the Bleed, and many other courses.

What are the ambulance & paramedic services in Jefferson County?
Jefferson County EMS provides ambulance and paramedic service to all residents, 24 hours a day. There are 10 ambulances, seven of them manned at any given time. The department includes 41 full-time paramedics and three office workers. There are four stations—New Market, Dandridge, White Pine, and Chestnut Hill. The department responds to all emergencies and also transports senior citizens and convalescents to the doctor or hospital.

Will my health or auto insurance cover my ambulance transport?
In most cases, your insurance will pay all or a portion of your transport. Please refer to your individual policy for clarification. Our office staff will be glad to assist with any specific questions.
