THE AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT (ADA) – TITLE II GRIEVANCE PROCEDURE

The Grievance Procedure is established to meet the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA). Veterans Service Officer (VSO) Assistant
Full-Time Position with Benefits

Jefferson County is seeking a full-time Veterans Service Officer (VSO) Assistant to support the County Veterans Service Officer and assist in representing county veterans within U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) systems.

Applicants must be honorably discharged veterans. Preference will be given to disabled veterans with familiarity navigating VA systems and benefits.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Proficiency in computer and communication skills, particularly within VA systems
  • Ability to obtain accreditation from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs
  • Demonstrated general knowledge of veterans’ pensions, compensation, presumptive conditions, the PACT Act, and other VA benefits at the time of hire
  • Completion of required VA training within twelve (12) months of employment and demonstration of detailed knowledge of veterans’ benefits thereafter
  • Working knowledge of HIPAA, FOIA, and other applicable laws and regulations governing confidentiality and the release of personal information
