Agendas are finalized before added to meeting listings. Listings are typically updated within 48 hours of the meeting. If there is a change in the prior to the agenda, we will update as quickly as we can and make a note on the listing.

Notice of Vacancy in Office: 8th District County Commissioner

The Jefferson County Commission will fill a vacancy in the Office of County Commissioner for the 8th District of Jefferson County, Tennessee at their regular scheduled meeting on September 15, 2025, to begin at 6:30P.M. Anyone interested in filling this vacancy must:

  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • Be a resident and qualified voter of the 8th District.
  • Have not been convicted of offering or giving a bribe, of larceny, or any other offense declared infamous by law, or otherwise disqualified from holding office.
  • Have not defaulted the treasury at the time of appointment.
  • Not currently be a Soldier, Seaman, Marine, or Airman in the regular United States Army, Navy, or Air Force.
  • Not currently be a member of Congress or hold any office of profit or trust under any foreign power, other state of the Union, or the United States.
  • Be nominated by a Jefferson County Commissioner.
  • Be present at the meeting on September 15, 2025 to accept appointment or have submitted a letter of acceptance to the County Commission prior to the meeting if appointed.

EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY: All Commercial Disposal Suspended

Jefferson County Sanitation is experiencing an overfull condition in the Class III/IV construction/demolition landfill.  We are actively pursuing a permit modification that increases our capacity.  This process could take 4 – 8 months to finalize.  Therefore, ALL COMMERCIAL DISPOSAL IS SUSPENDED.

Jefferson County citizens may continue to dispose Class III/IV waste in some small areas that have not reached capacity.  Citizen disposal can continue so long as space remains.  Citizen limits may be established to extend disposal ability.
