Jefferson County and the Jefferson County Sanitation Department will be accepting sealed bids for “C&D Waste Transfer, Hauling, & Disposal Services.” Bids will be accepted until 2:00pm on October 20, 2026. A Mandatory Pre-Bid Meeting will be held on October 6, 2026 @ 9:00am ET at the JC Sanitation/Landfill located at 650 Grove Road, Dandridge, TN 37725.

Short Term Rentals Resolution Passes County Commission

Resolution 2025-06 to establish permitting and application requirements for short-term rentals in Jefferson County, Tennessee, passed the County Commission during their October meeting. For full details, including applications, please visit the County Clerk’s page.

EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY: All Commercial Disposal Suspended

Jefferson County Sanitation is experiencing an overfull condition in the Class III/IV construction/demolition landfill.  We are actively pursuing a permit modification that increases our capacity.  This process could take 4 – 8 months to finalize.  Therefore, ALL COMMERCIAL DISPOSAL IS SUSPENDED.

Jefferson County citizens may continue to dispose Class III/IV waste in some small areas that have not reached capacity.  Citizen disposal can continue so long as space remains.  Citizen limits may be established to extend disposal ability.

Commercial entities may, as one option, choose to dispose of their waste at

To the voters of Jefferson County, TN

Due to a vacancy, notice is given that an unexpired term for the office
of Highway Commissioner District 2 will be included with the general election to be held on Tuesday,
November 3, 2026. Relevant dates are as follows:

Qualifying Deadline – Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at 12:00 noon

Withdrawal Deadline – Saturday, June 12, 2026, at 12:00 noon

• Nominating petitions for independent candidates interested in filling the vacancy may be obtained from
the Jefferson County Election Commission office.

• Independent candidates must file their original nominating petition in the county election commission
office no later than the qualifying deadline stated above.
