Circuit Court/General Sessions Court

Circuit Courts service contract disputes, civil torts, condemnations, worker's compensation claims, and domestic matters. The jurisdiction of the General Sessions Courts includes limited-jurisdiction torts and contracts, landlord-tenant disputes and matters involving the violation of a Metropolitan government ordinance, including traffic and codes violations.

County Clerk

The Jefferson County Clerk’s office provides many different services for the citizens of Jefferson County. Each year the clerk either has new services available to the public or tries to improve the services already provided. The Clerk's Office now offers on-line automobile renewals, notary public applications, marriage applications, and payment of business tax/licenses.

County Commission Office

The County Commission is the County Legislative Body for Jefferson County.  It is composed of 21 members from 10 districts.  Commissioners are elected by voters in their districts for 4-year terms.  Commissioners must represent substantially equal populations based on the latest federal census.  Each district is represented by two members except for District 03 (White Pine) which has three members.
